Shingletown Totem Pole

Location : Shingletown CA
Phone:
Description : Shingletown Crafted from a 340-year old sugar pine, this 60-foot tall sculpture keeps watch over the town. The topmost figure-the watchman-is a stellar jay looking out for trouble. The next figure is a powerful thunder bird with ram's horns. The main figure on the pole-the trickster-is a raven and is said to possess magical powers. A beaver and grizzly bear complete the group. In the beginning the animals and the birds gathered each year in Northern California to have their Annual Council Meeting to talk about what they could do to make their mountains a better place to live.

Tributary Whitewater Tours

Location : Lewiston CA
Phone:
Description : Truckee River Whitewater Rafting: This rafting trip on the Truckee River is the closest summer white water rafting to Lake Tahoe and Reno. It is a fun and exciting, 7-mile guided whitewater adventure, with many Class 2-3 rapids for the first 6 miles and exciting Class 3+ rapids in the last mile. This Truckee River whitewater rafting trip should not be confused with the self-guided float out of Tahoe City and our guided whitewater rafting trips on the Truckee River usually operate from mid-May through September. As water is obtained from several reservoirs and not just Lake Tahoe, this rafting trip is always available, even when the raft rentals are closed.
