About Taylorsville

Located in Plumas County near the Plumas National Forest, lies the town of Taylorsville California. Job T. Taylor first settled the town in 1852 during the hype of the California Gold Rush. As time went on and gold was found and many people made their fortunes and either left or stayed, the town took on an identity of more of a peaceful mountain type existence. The Indian Valley Museum has historic and Indian American artifacts that date from the 1850 are to present day. One room is dedicated to the native Maidu Indian Culture that was the original indigenous race of people in this area. The hub of the activity was the Taylorsville downtown area and this is still evident with the old pioneer-type buildings that have almost a ghost-town feeling. The family will love to explore this isolated but beautiful natural area and one that has so much historical significance as well. There are a few places to camp out or pitch a tent in Taylorsville CA but not much else.
