About Redding

California’s best spot for a great natural getaway is Redding. The town has regional attractions such as Mount Shasta, Burney Falls, Lassen Volcanic National Park, and the magnificent Trinity Alps. Any vacation that is centered around Northern California should include a trip to Redding as it is home to a wonderful amount of lodging choices. One of the actual highlights of Redding CA would be the unique Sundial Bridge which is a ‘not to be left out’ California icon. After visiting the Sundial Bridge you can also take a trip down to see Turtle Bay Museum, the Cascade Theater, Whiskey Town Lake, and make Redding the jump off point an exploration of Northern California. The Sundial Bridge in this city is the largest bridge that also serves as a sundial in the entire world!

The Sundial Bridge has to be seen to be believed and you will definitely know where it is once you take a trip into Redding. If the waterway is drawing you then a jaunt down to Shasta Lake and otherwise known as the ‘House Boat Capital’ of the world has the largest commercial house boat fleet in the entire world. The Sacramento River is California’s longest river and it runs right through Redding CA.

The town of Redding was the site of a very bloody and casualty-filled battle called The Battle of Castle Crags. The fight was between the Indian tribe Wintu and the local miners and it took place at the northwest end of Castle Lake. The battles lead to the eventual Modoc Wars of 1873 and was one of the most dramatic times of the entire area. There are usually metal-detecting wielding tourists that are still hopeful that they can find a musket ball or maybe an ancient arrow-head in which to discover and many are found each year. There is so much rich history in the town of Redding California it is of little wonder that the area receives so many visitors.

If all this talk about wars and battles have gotten you a little bit down have no worries since there is always the famous Annual Rose Garden Tour to lift your spirits and heighten your senses. The sweet aroma of many varieties of beautiful roses will certainly make you switch from a warrior-mentality to that of a lover in an instant. The roses that are presented in the show are some of the most wonderful and very specific to the Northern California area and culture. The soil here in this area is so fertile it is said that if you eat an apple and come back tomorrow the sight where you deposited the seeds will now have a little tree in place! Maybe that’s being a little over-the-top yet it is true that the soil here is one of the finest and most fertile in the United States. This is one of the main reasons that so many wondrous and tasty food items can be found here and nowhere else!

Do not concern yourself with worry when you are deciding upon which town or location that you will be visiting in your vacation to Northern California as Redding CA is the choicest spot! The wife will adore you for the great choice you have made and the children will thank you with totally great manners even after you return home! The town is loaded with hotels, cottages, and quant little cabins that line the lake for miles and miles. A trip to Redding California is one that will be honored for life.
