About Quincy

The town of Quincy California is a historic area that includes a four story courthouse in its wonderful downtown section. The town was the hub of activity for those Easterners heading West to try their luck with the Gold Rush of the 1800’s. Northern California was the target for many of these wide-eyed settlers and they came by the thousands hoping to be set up for the rest of lives. Many of them found something other than gold to pacify their wants and needs and desires and that was lumber. Quincy CA was a nice stopover for many of the lumbermen who felled their timber and shipped west to the town of Eureka. Any visit to Quincy is one that will be full of excitement and historical significance for every member of the family.

The naturalist in the family can choose this town as the location of a great environmental visit. The Bucks Lake Wilderness area offers great fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities. Some of the fish species that are high on the list are Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Brook Trout and Lake Trout. The area is well known for its natural beauty and also a wildlife magnet and a great bird sanctuary. There is always something to do and see at the Buck Lakes Wilderness Area and any vacation to Quincy has to have this on their high to-do list.

Quincy California is a short drive from Eureka and Sacramento California. The town has beautiful hills and mountains to explore and also great places to pitch a tent and camp out for the night. The sky is wide open at night with very little lights and it will be just you and your family and the great outdoors in this town.

One of the favorite places to see and experience while in Quincy is the downtown area. There you can shop till you drop and then settle down for the night at The Cloman House which is a large farm style house that rents rooms for the night or weekend. The Gold Pan Lodge is a well-named and appropriately at that for a nights stay and maybe will have you dreaming of that fist-sized gold nugget you found! Dreams are fun too! If the family starts telling you that they are really hungry then you will have no worries with a great selection of some of the best places to eat in all of Plumas County. The Pizza Factory always has a pie in the oven and will be the kid’s favorite stop while in the mountain town. The trip to Quincy CA will be the perfect vacation for you and your family.
