About Mount Shasta
Way in the northern section of Siskiyou County lays beautiful Mount Shasta California. An outdoor and recreational person’s paradise, Mount Shasta is full of lakes and rivers, majestic forest, and literally miles of rugged back country for hiking and general sight seeing. The town is loaded with fishing, golfing, and mountain biking, and rock climbing. Mount Shasta offers travelers the opportunity to see what a real Northern California vacation is all about.
Right through the town runs the McCloud River which is one of the most beautiful and remote rivers in the entire United States. With rugged boulders and white water rafting and kayakers’ bobbing by this is truly a river that must be seen to be believed. The river offers great Sockeye Salmon fishing as well as trout fishing. A trip to Mount Shasta California will really bring out the outdoorsmen in everyone. If all that fishing makes you hungry then Mount Shasta is a great place to get a bite to eat and also to lay down for the night. Any vacation that is in Mount Shasta is one worth experiencing for yourself.
Mount Shasta CA is named for the proximity of the town to the majestic peaks of Mount Shasta. The mountain is really a volcano and this adds to the thrill of having a family adventure to the town itself! What could be more exciting than to get up real early and then start preparing for a trail hiking excursion to the top of the volcano! I am getting excited just writing about it! The last time Mount Shasta erupted was 10,000 radiocarbon years ago and that is a very long time ago. The next time you want a little thrilling adventure in your family vacation then the place to be is here!
