About Magalia
The town of Magalia CA is located in Butte County and is one of the most highly visited of the towns in the county. This is because the California gold rush of 1849 saw Magalia as one of the first mining camps for the on slot of people coming from the east to the west. For a brief stint the town was home to a dog breeding operation which leads to the town being called 'dog town'.
In 1859 in the Feather Ridge Canyon area just northeast of the town, a whopping 54 pound nugget was discovered. This was the largest gold nugget ever discovered in the world at the time and was dubbed the Dog Town Nugget and made the town famous. The quaint town of Dogwood CA is lined with cool little shops and bed and breakfasts for nightly lodging. Being that Magalia CA it is near the Shasta Cascade Mountain Range, it is considered the place to sightsee and just walk around in amazement.
