About Lookout

The town of Lookout California is located on a mountain top on the west side of the Panamint Valley. The town itself is rather sparse and this makes it a great place to do what the namesake of the town says, look out! It will take a four wheel drive vehicle to reach this site where you can see 10-15 miles away and if you happen to have a good jeep or a nice truck that can make it up the rugged terrain then you will be rewarded by a great view from the top of the summit. The town was created from an old-mine that was owned by the father of the late and great William Randolph Hurst. There is a pack trail that connects the neighboring towns of Modoc County from Lookout CA and it is a very rugged and natural surreal for the whole family.
