About Hayfork
The town of Hayfork California is in the heart of Trinity County California. The town is named after an Indian tribe called the Nor’el which inhabited the area before the settlers came. There are still remnants of this indigenous tribe throughout the town and can be a great opportunity to learn about the Indian people that loved the land. A vacation to Hayfork has all the best of what Northern California is well-known for, natural beauty and friendly faces.
The mighty and majestic Trinity River runs right by this town and is deemed a “Wild and Scenic” river by the State of California. The river provides the tourist with opportunities for canoeing, fishing, swimming, and a host of other fine water-related activities. The river is great and offers so much to do for the family yet it is no way the last of the waterways of Trinity County, not by a long shot. There is Trinity Lake as well which has 16,000 square miles of surface area in which to play on and explore! The Hayfork California area is well known as an agricultural place with organically grown crops being the mainstay of this fertile area.
If the hustle and bustle of the major river and the big lake is a bit too much for you in your visit to Hayfork CA, there is always the more serene and off the beaten track Ruth Lake. This peaceful smaller lake has opportunities for the fisherman and the swimmer to have a great time. There are a handful of cabins in the town and there are also some of the finest eateries in the entire county. The family will not want to leave the town once they pile out of the car and that is a great thing!
