Dunsmuir California is a sight for a sore life indeed. The area is well-known as one of the easiest towns to relax in as it encompasses what the reality of a true relaxation station is all about, doing nothing. That’s the key to relaxing absolutely doing nothing and letting yourself recover from the daily grind of the big city rat races we all run. Like it or not the village of Dunsmuir will make you become a more laid back and totally relaxed individual.
This town is the home to the beautiful and majestic tallest free-standing volcano in the entire continent of North America, Mount Shasta. There are so many outdoorsy activities to encounter in the area of the volcano that we would be remised to not mention the top three at least. Hiking the volcanic formation is the number one recreational activity to accomplish while second place would have to be camping. The third most popular activity to engage in around the base of Mount Shasta is photography. The eternal picture nothing captures the beauty of the area like a fine snapshot of the active volcano. If you are lucky or unlucky it will be the exact moment that the sleeping giant decides to awaken and burst forth in a fire storm of lava and hot ash! Just kidding the volcano has not blown its top in over 10,000 years and more than likely will not lose its temper as you take its picture. It is very photogenic and will show you what true beauty is if you tiptoe in the very early morning hours and catch the sun peaking over the plateau and snap there you go! The entire area of Siskiyou County California will assault the sense and warm the heart without hot lava and ash!
