About Cottonwood
Right off of Interstate 5 in Northern California lays the historic frontier town of Cottonwood California. This town has the look of the Old West and also the European feel from the mass immigration in 1859. Cottonwood was known as a stop over for supplies for those traveling the Old Oregon Trail in 1852. Cottonwood became a major shipping point for cattle, lumber and other agricultural products that were bountiful from the Sacramento River and Cottonwood Creek. What opened up the town for a great tourism boom was the Pacific Railroad Company when it laid its first rails there and went north from the town. The town of Cottonwood is a sight to see in its natural splendor.
While standing in the middle of this town, one can look north to Mount Shasta and east to Mount Lassen which is the only active volcano in the 48 adjacent states in the United States.
