Cedarville California is located in Modoc County and is just 20 miles east of Alturas. The town was originally called Deep Creek and was a stopping place for wagon trains and gold hunters. The town of Cedarville has a population of only 849 as of 2000 but do not let this get you down as every single one of those people are happy to see you. The town of Cedarville hosts the annual Last Frontier Fair which will excite and enlighten everyone in the family.
One of the main attractions of Cedarville is the Warner Mountains, which are inside Modoc National Forest. The entire area is known as Surprise Valley and it offers hiking, fishing, birding, skiing, photography, hunting, and fantastic scenery. The town also has a strong and rich Pioneer history which is very interesting to every member of the family as we need to know where we came from. The Warner Mountains area in Cedarville is a sight for hiker’s eyes. There are trails that start at one end of the mountain and will take you to the other side within an hour’s time. The hikers will feel like they have found their best chance yet at conquering a very impressive challenge and ultimately reaching the peak.
