Modoc County
Travel north from Siskiyou and you'll reach Modoc County, a quiet, remote area of northeastern California which consists basically of one town, Alturas, and lots of wilderness areas. One of the best ways to tour the area and learn about its rich Indian history is by driving the Modoc Volcanic Scenic Byway, which begins in the former company owned mining town of McCloud and ends at the Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge, where guests can view the largest concentration of wintering bald eagles in the U.S.

Trinity County
The Trinity County area is a sight to see indeed. The Trinity Alps that soar above remind one of the great Gold Rush days and the many souls that arrived from all over the globe to find their own fame and fortune in the hills of Northern California. The area is in the midst of the beautiful Shasta-Cascades territory and this alone makes it one of the most visited locations in all of Northern California.

Lassen County
The towns that make up this richly diverse county are some of the most wonderful in the entire state of California. Susanville is the county seat and this is also where you will find all the exciting history of the area. The Lassen Historical Museum has loads of interesting and content heavy facts about the Shasta-Cascade region. When people think of Northern California and especially the northernmost section of the state the idea of gold comes to mind.

Tehama County
The Northern California experience cannot be better experienced than with a trip to Tehama County. The landscape is reminiscent of some of the finest oil paintings of the Old West. The county is located in the Shasta Cascade Mountain area and has the trinity Mountain chain as an accompaniment. The county is loaded with fantastic fishing and water-way activities with the mighty Sacramento River serving as the largest and most frequented body of water. Tehama County is the place to be for any family or individual looking to have the time of their life!

Siskiyou County
The largest county in the entire Shasta region is Siskiyou County. The beauty of the county can only be attempted to be described as it takes a real physical sighting to fully understand its awesomeness. The outdoors loving member of the family will be in pure heaven after setting eyes on the majestic plateau of Mount Shasta or the eternal beauty of the Klamath River.

Shasta County
Nestled in the very center of the Shasta-Cascade region is the remarkable Shasta County. The county is home to old ghost towns and new technological centers as well as some of the most breath-taking natural scenery in the United States. The county has the Sacramento River as its anchor waterway and also so many lakes and rivers and creeks to explore the problem are which one to take a dip in! Shasta County is one that will leave the family speaking of old cowboys and gold-miners for years to come.

Plumas County
Located in northeastern California, where the Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountain ranges meet, is one of the most beautiful counties in all America, Plumas County California. There are over 100 wonderfully clean, clear and deep lakes in the area of Plumas. There are so many fantastic miles of rivers and streams in Plumas County CA that a great family vacation is almost guaranteed!

Butte County
Butte County is one of the most spectacular areas in the great state of California and quite possibly one of the top ten locations in which a family can have a fantastic vacation in the entire United States. The beauty of the county can only be described as spectacular yet the true eternal quality of the locale must be seen to be believed. Located north of the capital city of Sacramento, Butte is within the Sacramento River Valley region and nestled in the Sierra foothills that offer panoramic views of the area. Butte County is one of the eight counties that make up the Shasta Region of Northern California and is named for the active volcano, Mount Shasta.
